Due to the popularity of horror comics in the early 1950s...
...writer/artist Dick Briefer rebooted the Prize Comics version of the character for the third time!
Ignoring the two previous incarnations he had written and illustrated, Briefer began an all-new sequel to Mary Shelley's novel.
The series, set in the present-day (1951) mentions the Frankenstein Castle has been quiet for 100 years, which would place the monster's creation (and presumed demise) around 1850.
Note: The novel takes place in the late 1700s.
Oddly, the Monster's creator is named "Henry" (as shown in the Universal movie series), not "Victor", as in the book.
This is the lead tale in the first issue of the revival, Prize's Monster of Frankenstein V3#01 aka #18 (1952), and there are two more Frankenstein tales in this issue, which you'll see Tuesday and Wednesday!
